1st Flight Platoon, "Rat Pack"
The 1st
Flight Platoon, Ratpack, was formed in August or early September of
1966. Its primary mission was to support MACV-RECONDO and the
lettered companies of the 5th SFG (ABN) and A Detachments in II Corps.
Over the years the mission migrated to supporting 5th SFG (ABN),
Detachment B-52, Project Delta on a rotating basis with the 2nd Platoon,
(Bandits) as well as support of DSA II Corps and missions assigned from
10th CAB.
