Nineteen year old Lawrence Williams, Jr. was serving as the door gunner of UH-1D
65-07926 when he and
1st LT William Beasley, were killed in action
supporting Special Forces Team C-3 at Bien Hoa, South Vietnam. Their helicopter crashed on takeoff and landed in an
abandoned French mine field. lawrence was killed in an unfortunate accident that involved a nightmission in marginal weather conditions. The crew became disoriented in the fog and crash-landed in a mine field near a Special Forces compound.
