Letter from Ms Elena Casey
Continuing Scholarship Awardee
George T (Tommy) Condrey III Memorial Scholarship

Saludos Members of the 281st AHC,

The past year has been one of many new and exciting developments for this rising junior.

Toward the end of August, I packed for College to assume leadership of the Education group of the Collaboratory, a campus-based, service-learning organization. As group leader, I helped oversee plans for a Summer math and reading enrichment program in the Mahadaga region of Burkina Faso. That program is in effect as you read this letter.

Also, last Fall I changed my majors to Spanish and English and have been thoroughly enjoying the new course that change has set for me. Spring semester sent me flying over the Atlantic to the city of great fútbol (as the Spanish call it), zany

architecture, and a culture defined by the mantra, "Tranquilo": Barcelona,
Spain.

Once back at Messiah, I intend to use my new confidence in the Spanish language to become more involved with Latino and Migrant partnership volunteer opportunities. And, with Barcelona having satisfied most of my Spanish major requirements, this Spring will have me hopping the pond again for a semester of English studies at the University of Oxford.

The relationships I have been able to form, the education I have received, the

cultural experiences I have savored, and the chances I have been given to serve a world that has given me so much joy have been made possible by your continued support, and I thank you for it. I wish you all the best for the July Fourth weekend and for the year to come.

Thank you many times over and God Bless!

Sincerely,

Elena Casey
